The Girl Who Pilots the Magitek Armor

A young girl grew up with the Empire, learning to weild her magical abilities. They seem to come naturally, as if she were born with them. Fire and heat and death...that is all that can be seen and felt in the Imperial camps, as that girl is instructed to do Kefka's bidding.

The fire burns, and within minutes, 50 people were dead. Kefka was proud, as was the entire Empire.

This girl, Terra Brandford, was the key to winning a war that had just begun. The Emperor wanted power, and magic was a power only too wonderful to behold. Imperial soldiers and generals alike came to listen to the Emperor's speech. Knowing that no other kingdoms could ever compare to the power that they held, they began the senseless destruction.

The power was amazing, everyone though so. The girl who had a natural flair for it said nothing. Nothing at all. No feelings of regret. Did she even know what she was doing?

A slave crown circled her head. She had no idea...She was merely a puppet, instucted to do what ever Kefka instructed. She was a slave.

Time flew by, and more senseless destruction, more wasted lives. Strange things began to happen in Narshe, as a creature with mystical powers was found in the North. This creature was still alive, just frozen in the snow. Troops were sent to the mines to investigate. The girl was brought along. Sitting within their MagiTek suits, they were almost invinsible. Vicks, Wedge and Terra led the troops through the mines, and eventually, they reached a highly protected area.

The guards were killed.

As the girl walked towards the creature, it felt a little strange. It was almost calling out to her, and she felt drawn to it. The creature was an Esper.

She walked even closer to it, looking right at it. Vicks and Wedge were disposed of, and disapeered, never seen again.

She walked closer, and the Esper reached to her with some sort of power...She couldn't take it, and fell to the groud...unconcious.

What was it that she was feeling? She awoke in a room all alone, except for a man named Arvis. He took the slave crown off her, and for the first time in 16 years, she was able to think her own thoughts. A strange feeling.

Already, other Imperial soldiers had found the house she was in, and surrounded the area. She escaped out the back door, only to be cornered, falling though a crumbling cave.

As she lay there, she began to remember a few things, but they are so hazy...a man places a crown upon her head...what did that mean?

A treasure hunter was sent out to find Terra, and his name was Locke Cole. He faught off the guards that came to get her, and then they escaped. Almost out of the caves, she began to wake up. She couldn't remember a thing, and it triggered many emotions from Locke. He then vowed to protect her, no matter what happens.

They ran to Figaro Castle, where Locke had ties to the King there. They faught off creatures as the ran, and Locke didn't seem at all fluttered with Terra's use of fire.

Terra met the king, a huge flirt, but she doesn't seem to understand what he's trying to say to her. She was hardly a normal girl, but she didn't really understand why she was different yet.

The Imperial soldiers seemed to know that they must have escaped to Figaro, and Kefka and his men came soon after. The set the castle on fire like a barbeque. The entire castle was screaming in horror, but King Edgar, being the mechanical genious he was, transfered the kingdom to a far away place, under the sand, and below a mountain range. Edgar, Locke, and Terra managed to leave Figaro, feeling to South Figaro, a nearby port town.

Kefka commanded his small army to follow, and they quickly caught up to them. They were being attacked by several MagiTek weapons, and Terra took action, using her strength to use fire against the weapons.

Edgar recognized this force right away. It was a mystical power magic. At first, Locke seemed unable to believe that Terra could harness such a force, but they realized how much of an advantage this gave them. They destroyed the troopers attacking them, and fled to S. Figaro.

Terra didn't understand her powers quite yet. It seemed natural for her to use them, but her heart fell when Edgar spoke.

"But no human is born with the powers you seem to have and..." He stopped when he realized that Terra was no longer following on the Chocobo. Terra truley didn't seem to understand. Maybe if she followed Locke and Edgar, she'd be able to find out more about herself. Banon migh be able to help her...at least Edgar said that.

Terra did not really find out too much more about herself. She evntually ended up back in Narshe, after agreeing to help them, and be the Returners' last thread of hope. She met others, all against the Empire for different reasons...another Imperial soldier was there as well, and no one seemed to take a liking to her. But she, Celes, brought news of an attack against Narshe, so they headed into the mines to ambush him.

Celes was stopped by Terra, and asked her a few things about magic, but Terra wanted to know something else of her. She asked Celes if she ever loved anyone, and Terra really wanted to know if she was capable of feeling that way. Celes was awfully rude to her, and stormed off, not wanting to talk about that. They were almost to the mines.

Kefka arrived soon, with many soldiers, and the Returners climbed down the mountain side, and Kefka eventually ran away. Terra and the others climbed back to check on the frozen Esper.

Something was still wrong. As they got closer to the Esper, it began to call to Terra again. She tried to fight it, and stepped back. The others tried to get to her, but were thrown back by a mysterious light. Terra began to speak as she walked towards that Esper. "What?! What am I feeling?! ...Huh? W...what's going on? Please....tell me. Who am I? Who?!" Celes could feel it to, but she couldn't do anything. Edgar urdged her to step back, but she didn't. Terra walked forward, and began to transform. She turned into a bright flamed creature, and screamed away, through the sky, out of control.

Terra was an Esper.
