This is my own theory, and if you want to read it, it may spoil you in the games Final Fantasy 2/4 and Final Fantasy 3/6. ^_^ Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. Complete the game first! XD Also, in no way is this true, so don't take this seriously!
I was just bored one day, and came up with this theory on how to link to Final Fantasy games together, with how characters *could* be related to eachother. This is the one peice of it that I actually liked of my linking, and I wanted to share it here. How could Rydia be related to a character in Final Fantasy VI?
Well, I used two characters for this linkage. Rydia and Terra Brandford. They both have great magical abilities, and look alike. But they already have parents. Rydia has..."Rydia's Mom" (lol) and Terra has her human mother Madonna, and her Esper father Maduin. My theory is that these people are related, just not directly to eachother. There's another generation between them, namely their parents.
To start with, Rydia's mom was an excellent Caller, a person who could summon monsters from another world to help protect herself. She was so good, she was like a village protector. She used her summon Mist, the creature the town was named after, to keep all strangers out of the village.
Even as a child, Rydia was a great summoner just like her mom. She overcame her fear of fire to help others. As she and some of her new friends headed on a ship to Baron, a sea monster Leviathan was there. He took her to the Land of Summoned Monsters, and taught her new things. When Rydia came back to the others, she had become stronger, with better abilities.
Now how does this relate to FFVI? Let's take a look at Madonna.
Madonna had wandered away from home, and we have no idea why. She found her way to the gate, where she eventaully met Maduin, who helps watch over the village of Espers. I think he is similar to Rydia's mother. They are both protectors of the villages they live in.
Rydia's mother may not be an Esperlike creature herself, but she does have the ability to call them, and they basically share the life. If the Mist Dragon dies, her mother dies too, and in the unfortunate case of Rydia's mother, it actually happened. So she is very close to the way Maduin is. Maybe he is Rydia's daughter?
We all know how Terra was born. A girl born from both an Esper, and a human. When Terra finds another Esper, she can feel a connection with it. And even farther into the game, she is "summoned" by Ramuh, so that he could take with her.
Rydia's mother was a protector of the village, and died protecting it and her daughter.
Maduin protected the Esper village, and nearly died trying to protect his village, and his daughter and wife/girlfriend.
Rydia could summon the monsters from the underworld, and she was drawn to their world by Leviathan.
Terra was the product of a human and an Esper (summoned monster), and was drawn to the other Espers by Ramuh, and her connection with Tritoch (the frozen Esper)
Madonna was drawn to the Esper world, when going there by accident. She had a baby with Maduin, Terra
They all have connections and simularities, and that's my possible family. I think it makes sense in a weird way. Hmm...good ideas for fanfics XD
