I love love love love making music videos.  There’s something so satisfying about it!  I have several on the go right now because I’m the type of video-editor who likes to poke away at things when I have the fancy.

My most long term project is a Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch anime music video using the song I Love You by The Scanty. That song is the opening theme to the anime Full Moon wo Sagashite, and I feel that the lyrics work so well with Kaitou and Luchia’s relationship. Teehee! I’ve been working on this one for years. @_@ Is that sad? Adobe Premiere and I are duking it out with this one. It loves to freeze on me. I dream one day of actually completing it…

I’ve been wanting to make another video using solely manga scans rather than animation ever since I experimented with my Out of My Head MMV. I learned a lot while working on it but I’ve wanted to try some of my favourite video editing techniques on the stills. I decided to go with Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne again. I’m so predictable! I’m using the song Lie Lie Lie by Serj Tankian to make a Noin X Maron/Jeanne centric fanvid. I’m enjoying the project, because as much of a cute couple Chiaki and Maron make (CxM OTP FTW lololol < —fangirlism), I find the dynamics between Noin and Maron and Noin and Maron’s counterpart, Jeanne, extremely interesting. Chiaki lied to Maron about his secret identity, Sinbad, and this lie is emphasized a lot in both the anime and the manga. Noin does the same thing by becoming Hijiri-sensei and befriending Maron with sinister motives.

“When Maron is reborn, she will be mine!” Noin says in the ending, his only appearance in volume seven. I’m treating my video sort of like a piece of fan fiction; his final words are so destructive here that I can imagine that his obsession with Jeanne would lead to him acting drastic, imagining (or even doing? gasp!) that he could murder Maron until she was reborn as someone who could be with him. It’s kind of a morbid concept, but with all the reincarnation and death in the series along with the twistedness of his past being demonic, I could definitely see it happening.

Lyrics:

My baby, my baby, let me know,
because you love me, you love me:
Let me go.And you’re my lover, you pay me twice my size.
And on your knees you lay in my thighs.Take my hand and let’s end it all.
She broke her little bones on the boulders below.
Take my hand and let’s end it all.
Broke her little bones on the boulders below,
and while she fell I delightfully said,
Lie lie lie (etc).

She broke her little bones on the boulders below.
Took my hand and she ended it all.
Broke her little bones on the boulders below,
and while she fell, I smiled.
Lie lie lie (etc).

I cut out the stanza that contained “Cause I’m your brother, your brother, have some pride / And now you love me, you love me, then die tonight” because it really didn’t work with the MMV.I’m trying to flesh out the concept but I’m not sure if the meaning come across through the MMV. I’m contemplating writing a piece of fan fiction about this idea, but it’s darker than what I usually write. In any case, the mood of the song fits with the twisted relationship of Maron and Noin. I’m enjoying the editing process, so with any luck, the MMV should be completed soon.

Mmm, KKJ rambles.
