Manga Music Video – Mobile’s Out of My Head [Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne]
I’ve made several anime music videos over the years (catalogued at my animemusicvideos.org profile), but I’d never done a manga music video before. I’ve watched a lot of them, but many people who create them do little more than a simple slideshow with music. I really wanted to create a sense of movement despite using still images. I decided to use the song “Out of My Head” by Mobile. I chose my favourite manga series of all time, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. (Much love to Tanemura Arina!)
The music video focuses on the relationship between Chiaki and Maron. (For obvious reasons, teehee.) The lyrics are really suiting! Here is the video; I hope that you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
My main motivations for making the video came from the lyrics themselves. When I listen to certain phrases in the song, I immediately thought of Maron’s interpretation of Chiaki. Their relationship was so convoluted because of the issues between Maron and Chiaki versus Jeanne and Sindbad.
You think I’m out of my head but I’m romantically dead.
Maron doesn’t believe in love because of her parents’ separation and so she won’t give in to Chiaki’s advances at first. If their love didn’t last, why would it last between her and Chiaki?
Your eyes deny me like the sun on a night sky movie scene.
Chiaki is certainly not accepted by Maron for a lot of the story.
And I hate to be the one, the one to drop you the bomb. You wouldn’t wait around but I’ll be watching you.
This line really makes me think of the situation of Chiaki knowing about Fin’s betrayal long before Maron. He keeps it a secret from her, and you could really tell in the scene where Chiaki yells at Maron to get away from Fin, who she loves, Chiaki knows that the truth of the betrayal will hurt Maron deeply. He is always trying to do things that are best for her, even if it makes her a little sad.
I’ll watch your every move. You can’t know, we can’t hurt. You’ve got no choice; I’ve got you!
Chiaki always tries his best to take care of Maron, even when he is in the form of her enemy, Sindbad. He’s devoted to his love. (How sweet!)
I’m looking forward to making more manga music videos in the future! Many thanks go out to the 2M manga scanlation group who made this video possible.

Thank you so much! ^__^ That makes me really happy!
I used Adobe Premiere to make this… it took me months because Adobe and my computer get into fights. XD My laptop thinks, “mrrrrrhh, stop making me run memory intensive programs,” but I pushed him to do it anyway. Froze constantly, so I had to save after every change…but I’m proud of the results. ^_^
