Disturbing Statistics

I love web site statistics.  I’m always checking up on them to see where my traffic is coming from.  Usually, the search engine referals are somewhat bland and predictable but once in a while something pops up that makes me smile.

My top keyword for this blog is “anime”. Hee, that’s too be expected, I suppose, dealing with this subject matter!

The most popular series searched on this blog seemed to be (from most to least):

  • Ouran High School Host Club
  • La Corda d’Oro
  • Mamotte Lollipop
  • Teacher’s Pet
  • Gakuen Heaven

Subject wise, Sparkle Sparkle pops up results for:

  • school
  • love
  • magic
  • teachers
  • sex
  • shoujo
  • boys

Hmm, is there a trend that I write about shoujo school romance series a lot?  Teehee.  (There also seems to be quite a bit of smut discussion!  What would my mother say?)

Shinjo Mayu seems to be the most popular author result for Sparkle Sparkle, with over 700 searches for her name bringing in visitors.  Beyond Shinjo Mayu… Miki Aihara and Ako Shimaki lead the pack with around 200 searches each.

All of this has been fairly innocent. I get search results from queries like “shoujo smut mature manga download” which is a little naughty, but nothing major. But today, which checking out my stats, I noticed one query that I was disgusted by!  I don’t want to replicate the terms because I don’t want to be further indexed as a source for the words together, but check out the screencapture below.  The offending search query is fourth from the bottom.

Search Referal Stats

Not only is it terrible to begin with, but it’s also brought up in a google image search.  (I took a look at the URL and it’s directing to a rather innocent image of Hina and Kyousuke from Teach Me More by Shinjo Mayu.)

I’m a little disturbed that such a searcher came to Sparkle Sparkle, a shoujo blog, to look for such images. Yuck.

Hi, er, long time no see?

    I agree that search string was totally icky… I don’t know if anything similar has popped up in my blog’s searches but now methinks I’ll do a cursory check at what kind of searches are sending guests over ^^;;

~nik who only knows that a lot of her visitors come for “Alice Academy”
