Mamotte Lollipop – 1 – The Princes Who Fell From The Sky?
Nina was minding her own business, discussing love and the ideal boy (a protective prince), when she notices a candy on her plate of cake. She eats it despite it not being chewy like typical candy, but when doing so, an entourage of magicians fly down from the sky to attack her.
Two boys, Zero and Ichii assure her that they will protect her. They wonder where the pearl has gotten to. Zero’s detector points directly to her. When the boys realize what she has done, they freak out. Zero even strangles her a little bit. Yikes. But luckily, his partner stops him from hurting her.
Two other magicians appear, San and Forte. They realize that they have a clue about the crystal pearl, thus a high speed car-owl chase ensues! Zany! The chase ends with San and Forte’s owl running into a piece of the city landscape. Ouch.
They explain their situation, and she freaks out about believing their childish stories. She does eventually believe them.
They call headquarters about getting it out of her body, but they are told the medicine cannot be prepared until Christmas, the final day of the test. Ichii comes up with a plan to protect Nina until Christmas.
San and Forte appear once again, and the chase ensues once more! This time, San summons a cute kitty to chase them. Zero and Ichii’s mascot character turns into a balloon (and it’s dzura-dzura-voice deepens amusingly), and Zero and Nina float away on it. Zero complains about the hassle of protecting her, so Nina tries to get away from him. In the air, it’s a bad plan, but she tries nonetheless. She almost falls, but Zero grabs her and pulls her close. Her heartbeat goes wild; she is so close to her protector! He comments on her small breasts, and she freaks out and causes them both to fall.
They land on the ground, and miraculously Nina is able to walk just fine. She leaves Zero on the ground and walks away angrily. San’s voice is heard, but she is surrounded by a large group of snakes. San captures her, and ties her wrists with snakes. (?! Am I really seeing that?)
San demands to know what her prize is for capturing Nina, but Forte ignores her. He tells Nina that he doesn’t want to hurt such a cute girl. Of course, San is upset that Forte won’t applaud her talents. After she attacks him in a variety of horribly dangerous ways, he gives her money, and she thanks him cutely. A metal beam then falls on his head.
Yes, that’s right.
Nina encourages Forte to do his best. He is aggravated by that, for the obvious reasons of being enemies. San returns, spending all his money on cakes. San and Nina eat the cake together, and they are both extremely happy. Nina is no longer tied up. Forte is not pleased with the situation, as he expected to be respected — or perhaps even waited on by both girls seductively. They eventually do offer him cake, but he rejects it since it is nothing like his imagination.
San comes up with the devilish idea of killing Nina to get the pearl from inside her. Nina is floored since they just ate cake together; that is a true sign of friendship! Forte uses a flute to hypnotise the snakes. One huge, massive, snack wraps around her neck to destroy her. Zero and Ichii finally find her location, and Ichii uses his protective magic to protect from Forte’s offensive magic.
Nina begs for the boys to stop because they are barely evenly matched. She doesn’t want them to die saving her. Zero says that he won’t stop, because the boy he wants to be like, Jeff, would never stop either. Dzura assures Nina that no one should give up, because staying strong gives others the courage around you. Nina’s strength comes from her parents, and their strength comes from her. For some reason, there is a magical boy transformation for Zero and Ichii even though I’m thought that they were already using magic earlier. I won’t question it. Mahou Shoujo series do need to use stock footage excessively for their budgets afterall. ^_~ They succeed in defeating San and Forte, and they become a speck of light in the bright blue sky, promising to return once again.
The episode ends with Nina pulling on Zero’s cheeks, and Dzura being thrown against the cement. Ai yai yai.
Good things:
- ~ Cute style and characters!
- ~ Dzura!
- ~ Princely protectors
- ~ Sugary sweet
- ~ Magical boy transformations. XD Too funny.
Bad things:
- ~ Repetitive animation.
- ~ Comedic violence that doesn’t add anything to the story
- ~ BAD CG SNAKES. I mean, they were pretty bad, you have to admit.
Overall…I think that this would be a good show for a younger audience. The slapstick really turns me away from the show. I think that if there wasn’t so much pointless violence, I would have appreciated it for its purely young shoujo romance aspect. The show is super cute though, and I will continue watching it if more episodes are subbed.

hmm…can i ask if people who’s minds belong neither to the adult type or the childish type can watch this anime?cos,i don’t think like an adult or a child…is it alright?’cos it sounds really cute!

ZOMG! *squeez* Mamotte! lollipop is my all time FAV manga! it suckz so bad cuz i got into the anime when the 1st manga was totally new so i have to wait 2-3 monthz to get a new one T-T the 4th manga came out yesturday and of course i got it right away. I know Zero ish going to get with Nina itz tipical but even tho i tink Ichi ish hotter im fine with ZeroXNina =3 (ish there a site to see the english manga online? ive seen picz of partz from diff mangaz in eng. but they havent been put out yet…so im curious)

Man this anime looks cute so I watched this and it`s cute and my favorite character is San. Why because she is cute and pretty and remind me of Tomoyo-Chan from Cardcaptor Sakura.
I shall make this anime popular than 4chan or For-Chan by making a montoge. I will make it after the few episodes of my reviews on Youtube.

I’ve read 4 Mammotte Lollipop Books In english! Did you know buying the books from Barnes And Noble only costs $10.95 per book and you get WAY more From the books then from the episodes!!!! Like in book 3 in one of the Bonus Stories They tell you about San’s mother Saria’s death from For’s point of veiw and in Book 2, 3,and 4 it has more entrees for the exam! And towards the end of book4 it tells you who wins but I am Keeping that to myself!^-^!!!!!I luv Zero and Ichii! I mean who doesn’t!
